Erin Sorenson

Erin Sorenson, M.A., is the Chief Programs Officer at the BeCause Foundation in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to this position, she served for ten years as the Founding and Executive Director of the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center, a $5 million public-private partnership and non-profit serving sexually abused children in the City of Chicago. Prior to that, Ms. Sorenson founded and directed the Children’s Advocacy Center of Northwest Cook County, serving abused children in the over 40 northwest suburbs of Chicago.

Ms. Sorenson has vast experience in the development of non-profit policies and procedures. In 1998, she was awarded the National Children’s Alliance’s highest award, the Bud Cramer Award, for developing universal Child Advocacy Center standards for practice, that were adopted nationally and later evolved into accreditation guidelines.

Ms. Sorenson has served on several local, state and national boards. She is the recipient of a number of awards, including Illinois Social Worker of the Year (2002) and Chicago Magazine’s Chicagoan of the Year (2001).

Ms. Sorenson has her Master’s in Social Service Administration from University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration and her Certificate in Non-Profit Leadership from Harvard’s Business School.

Ms. Sorenson also creates wall-size mosaics, is a jewelry maker and polymer clay artist. She enjoys traveling and volunteering her way across developing countries.
