BeCause Foundation’s “Children and Youth in Crisis” campaign continues to contribute tremendously to the conversations around child safety, specifically sexual abuse issues and bullying. As a result of these conversations, BeCause Foundation is currently leading the effort to establish a national, toll-free number for children in crisis.

Child Sexual Abuse -- Alone No Love
Moved by the shocking statistic that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused before they reach age 18, BeCause was compelled to make Alone No Love, the story of Jesse Hall who was brutally abused by his father in his early adolescence. The film also demonstrates firsthand the challenging work of a multidisciplinary team of doctors, state’s attorneys, police officers and social workers whose tireless efforts continue to provide refuge for sexually abused kids in Chicago.

Bullying -- The Bully Project
Over 18 million kids will be bullied in the U.S. this year. 3 million will be absent this month because they feel unsafe at school. BeCause Foundation has partnered with award-winning filmmaker, Lee Hirsch, on his latest feature documentary, The Bully Project, to be completed in Spring 2011.

Welcome To Shelbyville

Over fifty years of civil war in Burma has displaced hundreds of thousands of people. They have fled their homes, hidden for safety and faced forced relocation. Those people who are living along the border and in the interior of the ethnic nationalities’ area of Burma are severely affected. BeCause Foundation was moved to produce the film Crossing Midnight as part of its Human Rights Crisis in Burma campaign. The award-winning documentary has been screened across the US and internationally and continues to educate people about the dire situation in Burma.
